Hangar One Vodka
Hangar One Vodka is a range of all-natural, fruit infused vodkas made just outside of San Francisco in Alameda, California. Hangar One Vodka was created by legendary distillery Jorg Rupf, now recognized as the founder of the Craft Distilling movement. Named after the World War 2 aircraft hangar, in which it is distilled and bottled, Hangar One has become America’s favorite home-grown vodka.
The entire range of Hangar One Vodka is infused with real fruit sourced from small California farms. The range includes; “Straight” (infused with distilled Viognier grape); Buddha’s Hand (a unique and rare citrus fruit); Mandarin Blossom and Kaffir Lime. In addition to the core range, the “Alchemist Series” are produced annually (dependent on harvest conditions) – this range has included “Fraser River Raspberry”, "Wasabi" and “Chipotle”. Hangar One Vodka is featured on the cocktail menus of some of the world’s best bars and restaurants and is available in most parts of the US, UK and Canada.
Straight Vodka: Jorg Rupf and Lance Winters figured out how to make straight vodka taste good. First they pot-distill a vodka from expensive viognier wine. Then they blend it into an excellent column still wheat vodka. Here’s the magic: there’s no harsh alcoholic smell or taste, just soft beautiful purity.
Citron “Buddha’s Hand”: This weird & rare South Asian citrus variety is beautifully aromatic. The lemon flavor is delicate but deep & complex. Folks in China hang them in their closets to make their clothes smell good. We can’t get them all the time so sometimes we run out.
Fraser River Raspberry: From upper Washington state, the Meeker raspberry makes a startlingly fresh-tasting vodka. We make only one batch a year, in June, when the berries are ripe.
Kaffir Lime: Unusual and knobbly Indonesian limes (we use the leaves too) are the ones you see in Thai cuisine. They have a great fresh lime taste without any of that artificial overtones that spoil so many
lime products.
Mandarin Blossom: Totally fresh tangerines are used in the infusion, with fresh tangerine flowers added. It’s like peeling an actual tangerine, a really good one: the tiny spray of oil that comes up from your thumbnail is exactly what our vodka smells and tastes like.
Spiced Pear: Wonderful stuff. Seasonal bottling (October). From Colorado, tiny high-desert pears with intense flavors & aromas. Beautifully focused and very clean, with just the right amount of pear flavor, so you actually enjoy it as a vodka. Perfect chilled & straight up: classic martini. The main (subtle) spice is clove.
