Boisset
Boisset, now one of the top five wine companies in France, had its origins in 1961, when 18-year-old Jean-Claude Boisset bought four appellations that he then sold to acquaintances. Three years later, with his father, he cleared a parcel of land located at Gevrey-Chambertin: Les Evocelles. This was to be the birthplace of Boisset. In 1970, Jean-Claude moved to Vougeot, and began exporting his wines to England. Due to lack of space he soon moved to Nuits-Saint-Georges, where a modern building welcomed all of the activities of Boisset. In three years the turnover doubled, hitting 10 million francs in 1974; a fifth of the turnover was from foreign sales. Boisset won the Gold Medal for export from the Burgundy Challenge food and beverage exporters. Extending business to the U.S. meant doubling the number of employees. After having multiplied the annual turnover by 10 in 10 years, it doubled between 1983 and 1984 to hit 200 million francs in 1984. In 1985, Jean-Claude Boisset was the first ever négociant-éleveur in France to go public on the stock exchange. Two decades late, as new domaines in Canada and the U.S. continue to strengthen the company's presence in the New World, different brands in the company are affirming themselves individually, notably through advertising.

F. Chauvenet Beaujolais Grand Pavois
A red Beaujolais AOC, produced in the south of Burgundy by the region's foremose producer, this wine is young, light, vividly red and reveals a fruity touch of banana and strawberry. Cherry red, its nose is of cranberry and cherry aroma. It has a soft ripe berry fruit flavour and light body; good quality, true-to-type beaujolais.
The only grape allowed in Beaujolais is the black Gamay with white juice. F. Chauvenet Beaujolais should be served slightly chilled at 12-14°. It is an elegant accompaniment to cold cuts, roast meat and cheese. Serve slightly chilled with roast turkey or grilled fish. It can be aged three or four years.
