Cable Bay Vineyards

Cable Bay Vineyards was developed by a small group of wine lovers who are passionate about New Zealand and its wines. The company's goal is to produce a select range of high quality wines from grapes grown on Waiheke Island and in Marlborough: Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and a Bordeaux-style blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Malbec.

In 2004, after careful analysis, vines were removed from some of the company's Waiheke Island sites, which were re-planted with Pinot Gris and Viognier. These sites are ideally suited to these varietals.

A combination of outstanding vineyard sites in two of New Zealand's best wine producing areas, careful viticultural management in an environmentally sustainable manner and expert wine making help Cable Bay Vineyards achieve its goal of crafting exquisite wines, known for their subtlety, elegance and depth.

Cable Bay Vineyards could best be described as an innovative traditionalist,using traditional winemaking and viticultural techniques in order to ensure wines that est express the unique attributes of their individual vineyard sites. Yet the company's community approach' to its vineyard holdings is unique in New Zealand. Winemaker for all products is Neill Culley.

Cable Bay Marlborough Pinot Noir
This intriguing Marlborough Region wine captures the elegance and finesse of Pinot Noir. It evolves in the glass and can be enjoyed with or without food. This wine will reward careful cellaring for 2-3 years.

Cable Bay Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc
This intriguing Brancott Valley and Raupara District, Marlborough wine boasts a combination of modern and traditional winemaking techniques. It is a wine with intense fruit, crisp acidity and fine texture. Enjoy for 1-2 years from release.

Culley Marlborough Pinot Noir
This wine displays an attractive mix of berry and spice flavours balanced by a fine silky texture and lingering finish. An ideal wine to enjoy on its own or with food. Enjoyable upon release, this wine can be cellared for a further two to three years.

Culley Marlborough Chardonnay
This is an appealing unwooded wine displaying the classic lifted aromas of ripe stone fruit and citrus that are synonymous with Marlborough Chardonnay. It will reward cellaring for up to two years.

Culley 2005 Marlborough Riesling
This dry Riesling displays inviting citrus and lime aromas. It provides an enjoyable balance of intense ripe fruit, great length and a zesty lime finish. Enjoy this wine as an aperitif or with food. It will reward cellaring for up to five years.

Culley 2005 Marlborough Sauvignon Blancb
This wine displays vibrant gooseberry and passion fruit aromas, excellent balance, intense flavour and a lengthy finish. An ideal wine to enjoy on its own or with food. Enjoyable upon release, this wine can be cellared for a further one to two years.
